HI,
I'M EMBERLY

My Story

Hi, I’m Emberly Lietz, owner of The Lake House Retreat. I’m a "small town girl" having spent most of my life living in rural small towns in North Dakota, so the community of Erskine, MN feels like home to me. That's one of the reasons why I chose to establish The Lake House Retreat here.

I am the oldest daughter of three and was raised by hardworking, loving parents. I attribute my strong work ethic and love for family to them. My family lived and worked in the farming community of Hoople, ND most of my childhood and in 1989 I graduated from Valley High School.

I am a single momma of 4 children; Derrek, Aaron, Ella and Brynn who have all seen me make hard decisions and mistakes and also achieve some of my biggest goals, including graduating from the University of North Dakota, purchase homes, excel in my career and my latest achievement...The Lake House Retreat.  I work full time at Community Violence Intervention Center in Grand Forks, ND and spend as much time at the lake house as time will allow.

My two sisters and I have always been business minded and entrepreneurial. We are very supportive of one another and help each other when we can.  That's how the Lake House Retreat came to be so quickly. I purchased the home November 2, 2020, and soon after, the renovations began. Along with my sisters, parents, family, and friend’s help, in 5 months, the lake house became The Lake House Retreat!

Below are a few lessons I've learned along the way, and during this journey.

  • "Life is a journey. Surround yourself with people who love and support you and who tell you the truth, even if it's hard."

  • "Make connections, surround yourself with people who are smarter than you and learn from them, or hire them!

  • "Being vulnerable is not always a bad thing. It can make you more open to learn, to accept help, to help others and gain experience."

  • "Bring all those people who sincerely want to be a part of your journey, on the ride. It is a blessing to you and to them."

  • "Listen to your gut! That's where God puts the answers."

  • "The Sawzall is a wonderful tool!"

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to you who have jumped on the train and joined me on this journey! I appreciate you immensely!

And to you, our future guests, I look forward to sharing The Lake House Retreat with you, your family, and friends, making memories to last a lifetime!
